This is a group for whoever wants to get together to learn more about the Spanish Language, Spanish speaking countries and Latino culture overall. Classes can be expensive, but I have found that a group environment is important in learning and practicing Spanish. So I created this group as an alternative.
Other Spanish speaking meetup groups exist in the area, but none in Redondo/Hermosa Beach. (So if you live in an area 30 minutes away or more, you should check your area first, although whoever is welcome!)
We currently have a reoccurring weekly meeting in a coffee shop on Sunday afternoons, to practice speaking and to get to know one another. Each week, we will have a different theme to talk about or games to play. Whatever it is, it will courage open conversation and hopefully a fun and friendly enviroment.
Other meeting ideas that have been given are: Tapas y Vino, Spanish Movie Night, Spanish board Game Night, Latino Art museum in Long Beach, Salsa Dancing events, and a few other special Spanish heritage events. If you would like to schedule an event, please go ahead and organize it! So far everyone has been very enthusiastic and appreciative, and you never know who will be interested, so don’t be afraid to create events!
I will write most of my messages in English, because I want everyone to understand me, and because I am not sure on my Spanish spelling and grammar, but I will try to improve that as well as this group develops.
Thank you for being interested in this group or being already involved in it!
P.S. To renew it for 6 months it cost $89. So I am making a slight modification to the group so that dues/contributions/donations can be made to help offset the cost for me. I am only asking for $4 annually. If you feel like donating more, you are more than welcome too. You can either use paypal or if you are more comfortable handing me cash in person, you can do that as well. My goal is not to make any money, just to keep this group going, without costing me a lot of money over time. If I get any money over what I need, I will use it to buy Spanish games or other fun tools for the group.
