Energy bills have risen 37% in the last 3 years - around eight times faster than the rate of earnings. A recent UBS report forecasts a further rise of 46% by 2020. The Labour party have promised to cap prices if voted in at the next election giving the Conservatives an excuse to cut home insulation and green subsidies whilst allowing fracking for financially cheap, but environmentally costly gas.
I have another idea - see http://tinyurl.com/ReThinkPackagingCrowdfund and http://tinyurl.com/ReThinkPackagingPetition - based around asking the supermarkets to ReThink packaging so that we can build energy saving (insulating) and energy generating (wind and solar) solutions out of it.
This regular meetup - once weekly on Skype/Google Hangouts and once monthly at a venue in London or elsewhere - is aimed at allowing us to discuss all of the solutions to this problem.
