Help Stop Invasive Plants from Invading the Forest at Belcarra Regional Park

Come join us for a springtime work-party at Belcarra Regional Park and help remove invasive plants. We’ll be meeting at the Belcarra Picnic Area located at the end of Tum-tumay-whueton Drive. We're happy to have volunteers from the Lower Mainland Green Team participating in this work party.

Invasive plants such as English ivy and common periwinkle outcompete and displace our native vegetation that wildlife depends on. You can help by joining us to pull, clip and rip it out of the natural park area. Metro Vancouver will provide gloves, tools, and refreshments. Make sure to bring your own water bottle to minimize waste.

This event will run rain or shine, so come well dressed for the weather. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended. Afterwards, feel free to spend the afternoon in the park – go for a hike, explore the beach, or just relax in the breeze off Burrard Inlet.

Well organized. Satisfying. Progress is evident. It's good to see new volunteers Neil and Don.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
