Come join us for a willow planting at Brae Island. This is part of a bioengineering project to mitigate shoreline erosion. Through your assistance, you'll be enhancing valuable wildlife habitat.
Metro Vancouver will provide all necessary equipment (e.g. garden gloves, shovels, dibbles) as well as refreshments (e.g. water, juice, cookies).
In addition to MVERT members, we'll also be joined by the Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS), the Derby Reach Brae Island Park Association, and The Salmon River Enhancement Society . This will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded folks who are passionate about helping the environment.
This event will run rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather. Sturdy footwear/boots are highly recommended as we'll be working in a wetland.
We'll be meeting at the parking lot by the washrooms (take the main park entrance located at 9451 Glover Road) at 1:00 pm. From there, we'll walk ~150 m to the work site (by Tavistock Point Trail west of the campground).
