West Creek Wetland Clean-up

We're doing our annual site clean-up at West Creek Wetland.  Come help us remove invasive plants and old irrigation piping from an old wasabi farm.  This will be an opportunity to enhance the wetland, and visit a park reserve normally closed off to the public.

We'll be joined by staff and volunteers from Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) and Glen Valley Watersheds Society (GVWS).  Meet like-minded people who are passionate about helping the environment, and learn about the unique ecology and history of West Creek Wetlands.  If there's sufficient time and interest, we can hike out to Wood Duck lake (pictured above) to check out the wetland.

Metro Vancouver will provide work gloves, tools and refreshments.  The work party will run rain or shine, so come prepared for the weather and activity (i.e. hat, sunscreen, insect repellant).  Sturdy shoes are highly recommended.

Meet at the gate next to[masked]nd Avenue (400 m east of 264th St and 72nd Ave).  Park along the north side of 72nd Avenue.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for signing up for Friday's volunteer work party at West Creek Wetlands.

I just wanted to give you the heads up that we may encounter mosquitoes at the site. I'll have insect repellent, but it would be a good idea to bring some extra layers (e.g. long-sleeves, hoodie, etc.). We'll probably play it by ear, if the spot we're working in is really nasty, we can simply move to a new location. Alternatively, we might wrap up early and hike up to Wood Duck Lake.

I look forward to working with you Friday.

Hey guys, are we able to bring a friend to this meet-up or is it reserved for members only? Thanks!
