Date: Saturday 27th October
Times: Start at 10:30am Amersham Station, and finishing around 4:30pm at Chalfont & Latimer Station
Length: A 8 mile/ 13 km linear walk.
Amersham is the last stop on the Metropolitan line (Zone 9 on tube network) and is right on the edge of the Chilterns.
Our route will take us through the historic town of Amersham then onto the hills and valleys of the surrounding countryside. In the next few years this landscape will change forever as the new high speed rail link, the HS2, is built between London and Birmingham.
We will be stopping for lunch in a traditional Pub in the village of Chalfont St Giles. The village is where John Milton completed his epic poem Paradise Lost.
For our lunch stop at the pub, we’ll place orders when we meet but if you prefer, bring a packed lunch.
Level of fitness:
You will need:
- Walking boots. The footpaths can be muddy in parts
- Money for lunch/refreshments
- Waterproof jacket
- You may wish to bring a camera
We recommend payment in advance via paypal but if you are a regular walker with the group, please contact us about paying on the day in cash.
From London we recommend catching the 09:30 tube from Baker street arriving at Amersham at 10:21. Please double check train/tube times and for anyone travelling from another station, visit www.tfl.gov.uk
There is parking at Amersham station
