Statues & Warehouse District

I have been exploring the warehouse district N. of downtown near US 59 and I-10. Several points of interest - including backside of downtown skyline, St Arnolds Brewery, trains & RR Trax, Dead President Statues. I want to try to plan this when weather is a bit cooler- late Sept or Oct may work. I have two photo albums on facebook where u can see some of the shots I took in exploring the areas. I will provide links at end of this description. I would like for those interested to sign up here- and we can choose date later- But I suspect this will turn into several shoots. Would like to eventually include the Beatles statues near Taylor St, Buffalo Bayou, and maybe even a few graveyards, the beer can house. Open to other suggestions too- Lets keep it mosly inside LOOP 610

I will also post a couple photos here if the meetup is announced.

Showed up at Starbucks a few minutes late. Group had already left and did not know where the photo location was going to be. Spent the time walking around downtown Houston taking pictures.

    Sorry I missed the meetup

Sorry Jim- I usually send my cel # to the group but did not think of doing so this time. I did not see anyone there & figured it was due to weather.- figured I would try again when it was more cooperative. Feel free to post your pics here is you like.

this sounds like a great meetup, but I can't make it at this time! Maybe we can try for a round 2 at a later date if there's enough interest?

Set Dec 8 as the date and location- The Starbucks is about 5 minute drive to the area near St Arnold Brewery- Lots of interesting stuff to photograph.
I am hoping to get this one announced & get a few more on board.
See the facebook link above for some photos I took while scouting the area. (and the photos above of course)

    Sounds good Gary.

Let's break this up into more specific events - by location or topic perhaps.

Alex, I too enjoy capturing the urban decay theme. I'm thinking we'll need to do some site exploration prior to provide better coordination for a formal meetup.

Maybe this calls for a planning meeting (at a venue where we can hear each other speak)...

There is a little warehouse district just W town off of I-10 near the St Arnold Brewery we will concentrate on for the shoot- The statues are stored there, there is a park close by, lots of RR trax & good views of downtown from the back side. (see photos) We can possibly do a few other areas later on.

Around glenwood and washington but across washington are some good warehouses. Also up across 59 and some of those streets near 3rd ward and a paper mill over there.

I was looking forward to "Urban decay" element. Warehouse district is good for that.
