HMNS Pixel Party (A non-hosted PRIVATE event)

  • February 10, 2013 · 6:00 PM

HMNS is starting to have their Pixel Parties after hours. The next one is on Sunday Feb 10.

This is not a formal meetup, per se.  You need to sign up with the HMNS in order to attend this event.

Admision is FREE!  You will just need to share your photographs with the HMNS.

For more information and to register, visit http://www.hmns.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=581&Itemid=607 or http://www.flickr.com/groups/hmns/discuss/72157632482195686/.

Note that registration with HMNS prior to the event is REQUIRED before you can attend.  The RSVP on this meetup is not enough!

Yes Macro lenses do come in handy. I used to have a Sigma 18-50mm DC Macro lens a while back when I shot DX and loved how close I could get with it (like within an inch), but had to stand back about 4 feet with my telephoto lens last night! Extension tubes are in my future.

While we were gathering, there was a discussion regarding using macro lenses for these shoots. I didn't understand how macro would enhance a shoot like this. My understanding has been expanded!

    I love learning new things...

Wonderful interpretations in the images posted so far!

The event host apologized several times for the misunderstanding regarding flash photography.

Apparently, an Egyptian exhibit will be the next Pixel Party. Also, HMNS is working on logistics for hosting one at the George Observatory at Brazos Bend later in the year.

The Pixel Parties are always great opportunities to shoot museum displays.

Just an FYI, since Feb 3 fell on the Superbowl, they are changing the date to the following Sunday, the 10th.

    Hi Dawn.

The link to HMNS.ORG above has the information you need to register by email.

The photo sharing will be via the web, using one of three approaches - Flickr, Facebook, or a photography web site. I don't know the details of whether or how they intend to use any of the photos.

"You need to sign up with the HMNS in order to attend this event"- Where do I do this? Also, sharing pixs, computer, print?

Also, I have a pinterest account I told them I have as well. I will invest in a tripod for my little guy, any photoshop suggestions?

Follow the directions and send a note to the museum. They will have a guest list that you will want to be on in order to get in. Set up a flickr or instagram account and post a few photos and send them the link. These events are great.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
