PFS 5-99 The Paths We Choose (level 3-7) at Merwins

The PCs participate in a series of political events—including a memorial, a feast, and a formal oath-taking ceremony—in Absalom intended to honor the late councilor Hadrel Grayrain and formally inaugurate a replacement to finish his term. Against this backdrop, important factions within the Pathfinder Society are maneuvering to consolidate their gains from the previous year, carve out new niches for themselves, and manage emergencies that arise. During the adventure, the PCs participate in three of seven short missions, each of which highlights one of the factions in Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

This is an 'Open Seating' event for PFS play. Come explore, report and cooperate!

Scenario's being offered will be listed with their full descriptions below. If you would like to save your spot for the specific table please reply to that message with your character class and level. This will reverse your spot at that table on the day of the event.

Please RSVP if you are planning on attending. Those that aren't not RSVPed may not have a spot at a table and are encouraged to bring a scenario to run in the event there is overflow.

I have been trying to get to the bottom of the whole flanking and awareness question. After reading through a lot of blogs with opposing views on the subject I made this blog post: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2reok?Flanking-Threatening-and-Awareness

Finally, somebody posted a comment made by one of the Paizo designers addressing this question exactly.

Paizo Employee Stephen Radney-MacFarland Designer Sep 20, 2011, 11:48 AM 12 people marked this as a favorite. "tjlatta wrote:

"How about an explicit interaction with flanking?
When GMing, I've always ruled that you don't provide flank if you're invisible or stealthed because the flanking rules are predicated on the target being "threatened."
If I'm totally unaware of something's existence, it isn't going to be very threatening to me. "

A creature threatens under certain circumstances (see page 180 of the Core Rulebook). It may not seem threatening to you, but that's not how threatened squares work in the rules. An invisible or hidden creature still threatens, because it could and might make and attack in a creature within those squares. "

I will prep one of the following scenarios for level 1s and 2s. If you are coming and want to run your lvl 1 or 2 char, please check your Chronicle sheets and let me know which of these you HAVE NOT played, when you RSVP. Thanks. #05-1 The Glass River Rescue, #5-4 The Stolen Heir or #5-21 The Merchant's Wake. If there are enough lvl 1s and 2s all of whom who haven't done one of these, then that's the one we will do. An alternative, if none of these qualify, is #2-02 Before the Dawn, Part 1: Rescue at Azlant Ridge.
