It seems to be a good group of people.

  • Reno Freethinkers

The longest surviving non-theist group in Reno. I watched them come and go for over a decade. Reno Freethinkers not only lasted but incorporated. Now that shows commitment and staying power.

Awesome! Looks like David had some extra books. Were those to share? Could I borrow one of the paperbacks (whose titles I forgot) when I come next time?Diana

Stimulating and socially active group committed to maintaining the separation of Church and State this group strongly advocates critical thinking and activism. They are a pleasure to be a part of.

I like the book club and meetings that have a specific purpose. I will probably continue to attend these events. But there is too much emphasis on religion for me to feel comfortable in Reno Freethinkers. I grew up in a family that was only nominally Catholic. Religion was not a large part of everyday life. By the time I was 19 or 20, I had stopped participating in the church; it was not a struggle to leave religion behind; none of my friends back them were religious. Neither are my friends now. Separation of church and state is probably my major concern, along with feminist atheism. Reno Freethinkers does not seem to do much along these lines.

Je viens de découvrir votre site qui me semble intéressant, et demande à être analysé. Donc, je n'en pense strictement RIEN pour l'instant. Peut-être à un de ces jours? My English doen't allow me to write in English, but I would like to practise it through philosophic exchanges.

We had a great discussion about philosophy based on reason, logic and rationality going back to Aristotle and the ancient Greek definitions of God.

I attended my first meeting last night at "Gold and Silver" and enjoyed it. Discussion on lack of evidence was great except the omission of programmed religion in the form of evidence of misguidance by our accepted standard Calendar which was created by the Catholic heirarchy and endorsed by the many other organized religions and governments. I have studied and compared it with the original Mayan and Hopi calendars and find them to 90+% accurate and void of religious content. I have a 4 hour explanation on video if anyone is interested. I would definately share it. Dennis

My first impression will likely be a lasting impression: the best thing to come into my life in ages! Fantastic group of "real" people. How I have longed for such a group!!! I believe we will grow as a group & that we will not only be helpful to one another, but we will develop some terrific, lasting friendships in this world of often "evaporating" relationships. How refreshing to have met such a down-to-earth bunch whom are not intimidated by the rest of the world & its criticisms. I loved the strong personalities of others who know who they are & what they stand for!
