I am just anxious to get out - haven't been out yet this summer - serious case of cabin fever!

    Second call..
Cliff, Mitch, any opinion on the meet time? 7AM or 9AM, or go in two groups?? After all, it is easy enough to find.

    June 17

    • Mitch

Sorry I'm late responding. I always prefer early, but I'm also flexible. I think 8 should be a good compromise.

      June 18

  • lee g.

Changed to 8am, still meet at shell station.
    See you there!

  • Lucrecia

If the time needs to be changed, I am okay with 8 or 9.
I am fine with any time.

    1 · June 17

  • Julie

Lee, I am flexible for our departure time so just let me know the group's preference. I will be there.

    June 17

  • Cliff

I could meet any time but I hate to inform you guys that due to a complication of family events I may not be able to make it. I will do my best. Since it is such a short hike we could easily leave at 9 but remember there is about a 2 hour drive time which would put trail embark time at 11 AM. If somebody can't leave till 9 I am fine with that so we can go as a group. I prefer 8 but if Julie wants 9 then lets make it 9.

    June 17

  • Julie

I am flexible for the starting time. 9 am works for me.

    June 15

  • lee g.

Question for everyone. I had thought I changed this meeting from 7am to 8am, but see it remains posted at 7am. Given the short drive and short hike would it make sense to meet at 9am instead, or leave as is??

    June 15

  • Cliff

Here is a description of this hike. It is a total of about 4 miles and starts out fairly steep in a well shaded trail. About 2 miles in you come to beautiful Grass Lake and the trail levels off. It then ascends again another 2 miles to Jamison Lake that has excellent fishing. Right next to it is Rock Lake that has great diving rocks to jump from. Woods Lake is a short one mile walk to the West. From Jamison you can choose to hike up to Mt Elwell if you wish.

Thanks Lee, this will be a great way to spend summer solstice.

So...is this a backpack or car camping?

    June 10

    • lee g.

Shari, this is a backpacking trip!!!

  • mogulcrasher

I would love to do this, but have a wedding to attend. I've done this as a backpack once years ago and as a day hike many times.

I took a look at all of those and prefer the Jamison lake trip the best as it is not a lot of drive time. I missed that one last year due to a work conflict. Cliff, they all sound like great suggestions. Perhaps I'll run thru them one per month! And Mitch, I am still up for learning more about TRT trips. If Jamison sounds good, I'll post the Meetup.

    June 9

    • Cliff

Sounds good. Let's post Jamison and see if any pack rats show up. There is Woods Lk nearby and any adventurers who want to bag Elwell can do that if they want.

      June 9

    • Mitch

That sounds good. I've never checked that area out before. Definitely TRT in the future.

      June 9

  • Cliff

Hey, where are the for real pack rats? Camp in a camp ground? Ugh. I would plan a trip this weekend but my daughter might be having her baby so I will leave it to one of you guys. How about these suggestions for an overnight: Jamieson Lake by Lakes Basin, Dardanelles Lake by Myers, Green Lake by Bridgeport, Anna Lake by the Little Walker, Secret Lake by Leavitt Meadows and Summit Lake in the Virginia Lakes trailhead. Go ahead and pull out the maps and get to work and if you get something planned I should be able to show up.

    June 8

    • Mitch

Is there one you could recommend.

      June 8

    • Cliff

      How about Jamison Lk?

      June 9

  • Mitch

Anyone interested in Marlette Peak camp ground? This can be done as a day hike, but it'd be nice to spend a little more time.

    • Mitch

I have hiked this but it's been a while. I once spent please the night at the North Canyon Campground and had the place to self. The view along the Snow a Valley Peak section is pretty amazing. (Also, using the backcountry campgrounds is required within the state park.) Just a thought, I'm open to other suggestions.
