Dear fellow conservative:

Could there be a worse incumbent Democrat senator facing re-election than New York's Kirsten Gillibrand? And could we have a better challenger-a more reliable, articulate, intelligent woman; a more authentic, talented, and real conservative-than my old pal, Wendy Long? The answers are no (Gillibrand is soooo liberal) and no (she couldn't face a better opponent than Wendy).

The act of political donating used to be so . . . provincial. But we're all smarter now: We've learned, too often the hard way, that every senator, not just those from our own state, but every single senator has a huge impact on our lives. That one vote always seems to matter, and usually proves the margin of victory for some liberal cause.

That's why-whether you live in Hawaii or Florida or Montana or New Mexico or any of the other of President Obama's 57 states-you've got to know that this year's New York senate race is terribly vital to your interests. There are a number of great Republican-I should say conservative-candidates running this year, who, if elected, will punch waaaay above their weight. Who will have a huge impact on the future of this great nation. Without question, Wendy Long is part of that select group-along with stars like Ted Cruz and Josh Mandel-which our movement needs to get elected this November 6th.

Other than sending the Community Organizer packing, this must be our priority.

You can find out more about Wendy here, but I need to tell you only one of her many attributes to confirm for you that she is top-notch; that she will be a game-changer: Wendy served as law clerk to Supreme Court Clarence Thomas.

That got your attention.

Look friends, I'm the publisher of National Review, and while I get an okay salary, the fact is I have five kids, with lots of college bills being paid and to be paid. There's just not much moolah to be had for other things. But so what: I have donated significantly to Wendy's election effort. Like most of you reading this, I don't live in New York. My home is in Connecticut. But again, so what: Electing Wendy Long as New York's next Senator is as important to America's future-and therefore to my interests, and to your interests, and to the interests of our children and grandkids-as is the election of a Republican senator from my own state.

The alternative to not electing Wendy . . . well, it's decidedly not pretty: America just can't afford six more years of Kirsten Gillibrand. Mama mia, she is so so so so liberal. Her voting record is barely distinguishable from that of Socialist (yes, that's Socialist with a capital "S") Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders. In fact, the authoritative National Journal rates her as America's most liberal senator.

Let that sink in. Kirsten Gillibrand is more liberal than an avowed Socialist! Another six years of Gillibrandism-if I may coin a new and thoroughly unpleasant word-will be . . . disastrous.

We-our families, our Nation, each and every one of us-face extremely tough times ahead (heck, we face them this very moment!). With so much at stake, the peoples' representatives need to be the best and brightest. That's what we've got with Wendy Long.

I first met Wendy over 25 years ago in Washington, when she was a Reagan Revolution warrior, working for Colorado's Bill Armstrong, one of the most principled conservatives to ever serve in the U.S. Senate. Everyone knew that in Wendy, he had a kindred spirit at his side as he battled liberal efforts to grow the state, shrink your wallet, and weaken America's position abroad. She was considered one of the smartest and most talented conservatives on Capitol Hill.

She needs to be again. The people of New York and everywhere else in this great land need Wendy Long, a phenomenal woman on whom we can count to boldly address those challenges facing America, to play a key role in fixing America.

For New York, and for the nation, at this critical moment, Wendy Long is the right person. Please help your country, help yourself, help your children's future (fight for it!), help the causes we believe-less government, defense of personal freedom, diplomatic and military strength, less regulation, free markets, energy independence, unabashed and unembarrassed American exceptionalism-by helping Wendy get elected. That takes cold hard cash. That takes conservatives like you and me willing to put our money where our beliefs are. Not some other guy's money. Our money.

Are you willing to do that? I hope so. In fact, I know you want to help:Please do so here. When you donate to Wendy Long's campaign, be assured: You will be supporting a true conservative, a champion of liberty, a voice for sanity, and someone with the character and the talent and the vision to be the game-changer and the leader America needs at this difficult hour.

This difficult hour brought to you by Kirstin Gillibrand. Think about that.
