November 27, 2012Dear Gotham Gazette Reader, As readers of Gotham Gazette, you know that we have long scrutinized the role of money in our government and elections. That’s why I’m excited to invite you to a special screening of Priceless, an award-winning film from Steve Cowan that examines the effect of the proliferation of money in our political system — from the out-of-control influence of special interests on our government to the growing movement to reform campaign financing and encourage transparency. The screening, at the CUNY Graduate Center's Proshansky Auditorium at Fifth Avenue and 34th Street, will take place tonight at 6 p.m. It is being hosted by Americans for Campaign Reform, the American Sustainable Business Council, the Brennan Center for Justice, the Committee for Economic Development and Citizens Union of the City of New York, the sister organization of Gotham Gazette.A panel discussion following the screening will feature Rich Davis, member of the city’s Campaign Finance Board; Mark McKinnon, co-founder of No Labels; and Trevor Potter, the CEO and president of the Campaign Legal Center, and the former Federal Elections Commission chair. The panel will be moderated by Jeanne Cummings, the national political director of Bloomberg News. The event is free and open to the public, so please pass this invitation along to your friends. You can RSVP to [address removed] or contact [masked] x 39. I hope to see you there. Sincerely, Cristian SalazarExecutive Editor
