Join us for a great getaway, right here in NYC! Meet at 11am at the Willets Point/Shea Stadium stop on the 7 Train. The stop is inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park, site of the 1939 and 1964 New York World’s Fair. We will visit some of the remnants of the fairs, including the Unisphere and learn about some of the interesting history of the park. We will then visit the Queens Museum of Art (QMA), including the “jewel in the crown of the collection,” the Panorama—an architectural model of every single building in New York City (constructed before 1992). We then will walk to Downtown Flushing and visit a popular restaurant district where excellent ethnic food abounds. The trip involves some moderate walking on flat surfaces and will conclude around 3:30pm. The weather will almost certainly be very cold and windy, so dress accordingly. If it is really cold or the group decides, we can limit the amount of time spent outside. Food is NOT currently available at QMA so bring something to drink and maybe a snack. The organizer’s cell phone will be given to those who RSVP. Hope to see you there!
