GP Summer Party

Here are the results from the feedback and facts learned putting this event together.

Kayaks: EMS will rent you a kayak for $50.00 the first day, $20.00 the second day. If you pick it up on Friday after 6 PM, you can keep it till Sunday. So that breaks down to a 3 day rental for 70 bucks. If you only want it for Saturday, it will cost $50.00 and you pick it up at the store. If your still interested in Kayaking at the party, it's your responsibility to rent. Call and reserved your kayak at EMS on Bald Hill Rd. Warwick,[masked], ask for Thor.

Biking: There was not enough of a interest in biking on this day. I did not have enough people to put a group together with a lead biker. If you still want to bike (off or on road), bring your bike and do your own route. There are a few people who want to bike, maybe you all can ride together.

Hiking: Plenty of people want to hike. We will divide people into hiking group depending on level of experience. Come prepared with plenty of water, bug spray, sun screen, hiking boots, and proper clothing.

Location: Sites "95 through 101" are reserved for our club. Look for the "orange" balloons and RIHC sign. There is a beach at Goddard Park, so bring your swimsuits if you want to go for a dip during the day.

Time: We will meet up at 9:00 AM to hike or kayak. If you just want to kick back and enjoy great company with plenty of nice people, come anytime!! We will gather around noon to have lunch.

Food: We have 7 pits to cook on. Bring your own coal if you want to use a pit. Bring your own grill if you like. BRING YOUR OWN FOOD to grill. I will bring my own food PLUS a dish to share. If most people do this we will have a nice cornucopia to pick on throughout the day. Please reply and state what kind of dish your going to bring to the table. Let's all be responsible and not keep that "dish" you bring to share in your hot car while you go on a long hike. Keep it chilled as best as you can, so none of us get food poison.

Beverages: Goddard Park's policy is "no alcohol allowed". Bring your own beverages to drink throughout the day. Water is the best choice to stay hydrated with. I suggest you wear a hat because it will help protect you from the sun.

Activities: "Let's kick Tony's butt" at Volleyball, Horseshoes, Bocce, sitting on a lounge chair soaking up the sun with a cold cup of water in hand.

Responsibility: If you join this event this implies that you agree that you alone are responsible for your welfare. Hike, kayak, bike, play, swim, eat, walk at your own risk!

Here is a list of side dishes people are bringing:

Jerilyn.....Sesame Hot Chilli Noodles

Anja........Bean Salad

Nick........Pasta salad

Maria L....Fruit Tray

Thank you die hard hikers/Kayakers/Lone biker Francine, for making it to our party. We cant control the weather, but we do make the best of it. Special thanks to Bob T and Kenny for being there at 8:00 this morning. They were sweating while struggling to set up their equipment for us. Bob with his wonderful tent that we all sat under, and Kenny for holding court all day, during the event playing great music. We have the best members in our RIHC! Thank you all! xo

We'll be kayaking in Greenwich Cove and beyond, into Greenwich Bay. Its very scenic and relatively calm paddling around the sail boats that are moored in the cove. We can stay close to shore by the beach in the Bay, or venture as far as we'd like.

    June 7, 2013

    • Bob T.

The event starts at 9:00. Michael will determine launch time, probably just after 9:00 as soon as all the confirmed kayakers arrive.

      July 13, 2013

    • colleen q

Hi Michael, I plan on joing the kayakers, see you at 9am

      July 13, 2013

  • Robert S.

I have to cancel last minute. My car's head gasket went. Next time for sure!

    July 13, 2013

  • Jerilyn S S.

We decided Rain or Shine we will have a party. We only have a couple of small tents, so if people can bring a tent, that would be great!

    July 13, 2013

  • Jan

I cannot make the hike now, but will be there for the get together afterwards.

    July 13, 2013

  • Doug

    Anybody else kayaking?

    July 12, 2013

    • Wendi M.

I saw the info on the kayaks, it was just unclear to me about renting for Sunday on that day. Are we all meeting at Goddard and then going to the launch site for a specific time?

      July 13, 2013

    • Jerilyn S S.

If you email Micheal, (the guy below) he can help you. Mike is the leader for the Kayaking group.

      July 13, 2013

  • Jerilyn S S.

Since the weather will be hot and muggy I changed my side dish to a cake. Hot sesame Chilli noodles will give you hot flashes the way I prepare it. Not good for this weather.

    July 13, 2013

  • Wendi M.

hi , will there be kayaks to rent at the launch site? I have a friend that is coming that would like to kayak, but no rack etc? Also I will chips and a dip.

    July 13, 2013

    • Jerilyn S S.

Hi Wendy, I posted information above on Kayaks for rent at EMS. I hope this is helpful.
