Not for First time Hikers with this club
Hi Everyone ,
This is a real nice hike and one of my favorites. With 800' of elevation gain this is not for a beginner .Hunting season is on, and you will be required to wear at least 400 square inches of blaze orange .This hike has a very diverse landscape untouched for miles . We have seen wildlife such as deer every time we have been out there .If you want the feeling you are in the woods in Montana this is it .There are a couple of nice overlooks plenty of small streams and wildlife. With some great rock formations and a large beaver pond it makes for a great hike. The weather forecast is possible showers so please be prepared.
If you have any question about your ability this might not be the hike for you. We will hike at a moderate pace . Please bring plenty of water , food and bug repellent. Good boots are a must .Please take a look at some of the pictures from May or September .
For this hike we will meet at the Municipal Parking Lot at the intersection of Rt 44 and Kennedy Drive in Putnam, CT at 8:30. We will carpool from the parking lot , volunteers needed .
See you Saturday ,
Directions to Parking Lot:
From Rt 44: follow Rt 44 into downtown Putnam. After driving through two pedestrian crosswalks, take a left on Canal Street as you come down the hill, just before the intersection of Rt 44 and Kennedy Drive. The parking lot will then be an immediate right turn.
From Rt 6 or Rt 101: Take I-396 North to exit 95. At the end of the ramp, turn right on Kennedy Drive. Follow Kennedy Drive until just before the intersection with Rt 44, and turn right into the parking lot.
This is the lot we have used when having lunch at The Courthouse. Park near the DMV building at one end of the lot.
