Blaze Orange: Required

The Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park recalls the role of canals in transporting raw materials and manufactured goods between emerging industrial centers. Walk along restored sections of the Blackstone River Canal and Towpath from the River Bend Farm Visitors Center .

we will hike along the Blackstone river from the visitor's center across the stone arch bridge, crossing Hartford Ave. following the Goat Hill trail to the Goat Hill lock.  we will then follow the Canal Towpath/ Plummer's trail to Plummer's landing where we can stop to eat a snack.   We will then return the way we came all the way to the lock at which point we will ascend Goat Hill.  Having conquered this summit, we will descend and find our way back to Hartford Ave.  At this point, those not wishing to continue to Lookout Rock can return to their cars.

We will have to follow Hartford Ave for a short distance, walking on the road, to find the  trail (King Phillip's trail) to Lookout Rock.  again this is a there and back hike but the views from Lookout Rock are well worth it.  There will be a small climb to get to Lookout Rock.

Trail map can be downloaded from the following site:

Bug spray, drinking water (1 Liter), a good pair of hiking boots, snacks and a hat are recommended.  Blaze Orange is required.  you will not be allowed on hike without it

I forgot to stop at EMS on the way home last night, and now I'm without blaze orange!

The gunfire behind my house early this a.m. is what reminded me.

I have a bright yellow/green shirt/vest from my last job in the woods, but it's awfully hot to wear. I guess I'll bring it and see if I pass muster.
