Oak Knoll - Beginners Hiking 101

SATURDAY SHORTY-  Please read this entire write up before signing up for this hike. By signing up for this hike you (and your guest if applicable) agree to the terms of the liability waiver below.

Distance : under 2 miles ( shamefully short)

duration: 1 hour or less

Blaze orange is not required

Looking out over Lake Talaquega, it’s hard to imagine that this serene setting was once a buzzing entertainment destination, complete with a casino and hotel. Now Oak Knoll, just minutes from downtown Attleboro, offers a natural respite with wooded trails and boardwalk winding through a red maple swamp, upland forest, and freshwater marsh, and around the lake’s perimeter.

This Audubon preserve is 51 acres and the trail will be under two miles.

This hike is very short and will lend itself to a beginner,  but all are welcome to join us. You will be done early enough to  get some shopping  done after. If you are new to hiking in the colder temperatures this is a good way to try it out w/ out having to be outside for a long period of time your 1st time out.

The terrain is varied and there are some rocky areas. It will likely  be wet in areas, a good boot is strongly suggested.  This is a lollipop trail that goes around the lake and back.Make sure you are dressed for the weather. Multiple  thinner layers work well. Base layer w/ 2nd  layer and then a wind layer or shell. Make sure you have a hat and gloves...

Hi, yes pretty much. I will be watching the weather and sending a note out Friday. w/ info and my number. It would have to be pretty nasty for me to cancel. It is so short anyway.
