The Ten Mile River Greenway was built in 2004 to connect Slater Park in Pawtucket to the Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Fields in East Providence at a distance of 2.5 miles. It is one of the few bike paths in Rhode Island that was not built along a former rail corridor. This means the path follows the natural contour of the land and provides a very scenic ride or walk along rolling terrain on the banks of the James Turner Reservoir.
We will meet @ Kimberly Rock field parking lot. The meet up is located behind the Wolf school @ 215 Ferris Ave. East Providence. Go all the way back to the rear of the lot where the path begins. This is a very scenic area, woods and waterviews abound.
This will be an out and back hike all on the Greenway. Once we arrive @ Slater park we will continue across the road onto the new path extension, again out and back on a scenic winding path.As always bring plenty of water and snacks.HEADLAMP or FLASHLIGHT required. Make sure you dress for the weather and have gloves and head / ear coverage. We will stop for a quick break when we get into the park. AGAIN WE WILL WALK AT A QUICK PACE.
