Hi Everyone , . Long Pond is a great hike .  With anywhere between 4 and 5.5 miles  depending on if we decide to walk on the the road for the complete hike  .Please allow 2 1/2 to 3  hours. The book states 3 to 4 hours but I have never come close to that.   It is considered a strenuous hike at least the first and last mile as stated in Ken Weber 's " Walks and Rambles ".  This a great little hike with a lot to offer. With some nice outcroppings , mountain laurel and from what is said the tallest rhododendrons in the state . Sorry they are not in bloom at this time .What I find particularly interesting are the piles of rocks or cairns  that are scattered about in one section. Alien landing zone ? ancient burial ground or just a pile of rocks.Lol. Please keep in mind this a good work out . Good boots are must as well, water and food  . If you  are not  use to a moderate pace hike please do not sign up for this hike. Please wear blaze orange for safety . We will carpool from the Park And Ride . Volunteers needed.  It is about a 10 minute  ride to the trail head . Please dress for the cold weather with possible mirco spikes .

See you Saturday ,

One of my favorite hikes in RI...the existing snow on the ground and the flurries that continued to fall throughout the hike just made it a beautiful day to be on the trails.
    Thanks Tony !

This was a fantastic hike, once we got moving I didn't even notice the low temperatures. The continual snow flurries really added to the beauty of the day!!
