  • This location is shown only to members

PLEASE NOTE:  DO NOT RSVP HERE.  YOU CANNOT REGISTER ON THIS PAGE.  THIS COURSE IS BEING SPONSORED BY THE AMC NARRAGANSETT CHAPTER AND YOU MUST DIRECTLY CONTACT ONE OF THE REGISTRANTS LISTED BELOW.

A sudden medical emergency. No ambulance. No hospital. No helicopter. Miles from the nearest road. Hours, perhaps days away from help. No rescuers are coming. What are you going to do?

-- Red Cross first aid training is certainly helpful, but when you are in a backwoods situation, you need more. This course will provide the knowledge you will need to deal with medical emergencies when you are more than one hour from medical care. In addition to patient assessment, this course will teach you how to treat immediate life threats, disabling injuries, hypothermia and other environmental hazards, fractures, sprains and more.

This is a two day course and will be taught at Camp Cookie in northwestern RI. The course will once again be taught by the outstanding instructors from

Stonehearth Outdoor Learning Opportunities (SOLO)

.Pre-registration for AMC volunteer leaders will begin January 15. Narragansett

. Registration for all others will begin on February 1, and will cost $95 for Narragansett Chapter members and $165 for all others. You can become a member for $40 and still come ahead $30!   Join here now:   http://www.amcnarragansett.org/our_chapter/join/join_amc.shtml

The fee covers all instruction and materials but does not include lodging or meals. A lite breakfast will be served.

2 full 8 hour days.

If you spend time having fun outdoors, this is one of the most important courses you can take.

Wish I saw this sooner, going up to do wilderness first aid training in NH next weekend. Would have been nice to go to a closer course. Have fun everyone.

Wonderful! I was hoping for that. A whole weekend is a big commitment, but as you know, the knowledge and skills learned are invaluable. And it's a whole lot of fun too! Except I heard there won't be any more live practice on penknife tracheotomies... :/
