Lime Rock Preserve Hike/Walk #32 in the Weber book

  • Dec 31, 2012 · 1:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Distance: 2 miles

Duration : under 1 hour

Rating: Easy and short!!!

Please read this entire write up and agree to the liabilty waiver before signing up for this hike.

This is a jewel among RI public places.Walkers who appreciate botany and geology will love it because Lime Rock has more unusuall plants and types of stone than any other place in the state. There are plenty of birds here too. However, you don't have to be a rock or plant enthusiast to enjoy the preserve.

This is an easy loop, The trail begins and ends on an old railroad bed, swings around a picturesque pond, we will traverse an earthen dam, pass imposing ledges, cross brooks and wander through a fern -carpeted forest. The loop is two miles. If you are looking for a short and easy hike give this one a whirl!

Parts of the trail could possibly be wet. Where sturdy boots. Bring water and snacks.

we will meet infront of the grocery store by the McDonalds close to the guardrail and exit/enterance. I drive a gold Altima. RT.116 Lincoln Mall. Carpool 1 mile to Wilbur Ave (Lime Rock Preserve).

Richard, hope you enjoyed the pics. I thought the trail was well-blazed. The only problem that you may encounter would be parking.

Always fun to hike a spot in different seasons. Fresh pristine snow, very pretty. Geoff I hope you and Kelly found your camera. I hope all enjoyed the hike. Happy New Year.

I gave it a medium shot digging in the snow. However, the cam is in a neoprene case and I was not, so I'll return with better tools and hopefully somewhat less snow.

I would like to attend, (one spot left) but the form is telling me there are no new RSVPs. I just joined the group last week.

Alright Pat, are you going to do Fort Nature before this one? I'm on a roll here. I need to walk away from the computer
