Ken Weber's "Weekend Walks in Rhode Island" Program

Hello Everyone,

This e-mail has been sent out to the club to see if there is sufficient interest in the RIHC doing a hiking program of the 40 hikes in Ken Weber’s “Weekend Walks in Rhode Island”. It is this book that the club is primarily based on.

The 40 hikes in “Weekend Walks in Rhode Island” include a variety of woodland walks of varying distances, the Newport Cliff Walk, a beach walk at Napatree Point, and a walk on Block Island. The program would offer all 40 hikes totaling about 160 miles. These hikes are spread throughout the state. Some of these hikes are club staples like Parker Woodland, the Narragansett Trail, and the Ben Utter Trail. Others are hikes that are seldom offered to the club. Hikes would be hosted by a number of different Organizers.

A few club members have been working independently to complete all of these hikes. This program would give them an opportunity to complete the book in a group environment. Members who have done a number of hikes with the club have likely already completed some of these hikes. To relative newcomers, this presents a goal of hiking most of the best trails in Rhode Island.

If you are interested in participating in the program, please contact me via e-mail. You can do that by replying to this message, or by using the e-mail link on my profile page.

John H.
