Smackdown! It's a beer and wine pairing dinner at T.J.'s

It's a wine vs. beer smackdown, pitting Taylor Smack of Blue Mountain Brewery against Tim Gorman of Cardinal Point Winery, moderated by Becky Jordan of Chef Beckles and paired with the ever-winning cuisine of Executive Chef Patrick Ehemann! 

The smackdown will consist of five rounds: a welcome wine and beer plus four courses, all paired with wine and beer. Each course will be prepared by Patrick Ehemann, Executive Chef of TJ’s at the Jefferson, who has much experience preparing wine and beer dinners. But this is Ehemann’s first beer vs. wine dinner!

The final beer and wine pairings have yet to be determined, but here is a sampling:

Small bite beginnings to begin the evening: Smoked Chicken Croquant with Apple Mostarda and Virginia Ham and Gougers with Grayson Cheese en Pipette, paired Blue Mountain Maggie's Maibock and Cardinal Point Quattro. 

This will be followed by a warm salad of grilled octopus, crisp chickpeas, piquillo peppers, Easter egg radishes, petite herbs, charred onion, and black rice vinaigrette; Duo of rabbit, with Harissa roasted rabbit loin with crispy Moroccan rabbit pastilles;  petit lamb Osso Bucco; and chocolate hazelnut crunch for dessert--pairings all awaiting final decisions by the competitors.

You, the judges and participants, will vote for the best pairing for each course! Will it be wine? Will it be beer? We shall see!

Price for all of this decadence is only $50 + tax and gratuity!

    Thank you Annie for a great concept! I hope TJ's does some more beer vs wine dinners. It was a lot of fun! Great beer and wines paired with excellent food, as always. Dare I say I'm siding with the popular vote - beer :)
