As a prequel to our August road trip, we thought we’d do a day trip to Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton, Virginia to enjoy lunch and beer tastings on their awesome outside deck (weather permitting).
This event is limited to 25 people. Guests are limited to one per person. Please be sure and read all the details below:
Where/When : We will meet at the Park & Ride at Gaskins Rd & Mayland Drive (just off the I-64 Exit) and carpool from there.
- Please be at the park & ride by 8:45 a.m.
- We will figure out carpools and leave at 9:15 a.m.
- We need to be at Blue Mountain by 11:00 a.m. for our group reservation.
Please be sure and plan your timing so that you fill up with gas (if driving), get your coffee, go to the bathroom etc., before arriving at the park & ride.
We’ll take our time eating and tasting, so plan on being there 2-3 hours and getting back to Richmond late afternoon.
Carpools : if you're willing to be a driver, please indicate that on your RSVP comments and note how many you can fit in your vehicle. It should go without saying, but we do expect (require) drivers to drink responsibly.
Please bring cash ($10 suggested donation to your driver for gas), plus extra for food etc. It’s easier to settle tabs for a group if everyone brings cash.
As with all limited space events, please be sure and change your RSVP if you decide not to attend, so that someone else can have your spot. Also, we’re recently adopted the policy that if you no-show for a limited space event, you may be restricted from RSVPing for another limited space event in the future.
I hope everyone had a great time, I know Sonja and I enjoyed ourselves. Blue Mountain Brewery's new dining area was very nice and they were able to accommodate our group. The beers were good and so was the food. I hope everyone enjoyed the surprise trip to Wild Wolf Brewery the heat was unbearable for me, I had to sneak inside for some relief. I enjoyed meeting some new members and I hope you had a great time.

Just want to echo what Amy said - great beer/food/company, a really nice summer thing to do and both breweries really nice. Look forward to the next one!

This is my 2nd Road Trip with RBL and it was great. Very well planned and alot of fun.
July 9
It was HOT ... but the great people who attended made it all FUN and well worth it(and of course the beer and food!) I'd love to do this again in the fall so we could sit outside in cooler temps and enjoy those mountain views a little more.
July 8
Can I ride w/you Steve, happy to pay some gas $ of course - for a movie I request Deep.......uhhh I mean Shrek. Yeah that's it.
July 5
OK, between the people who've been kind enough to confirm their RSVPs here and the people I've corresponded with/spoken to, I think we have enough drivers now. Thanks everyone :) Going to close RSVPs tomorrow noonish, then send out an email with my cell# and final information.
July 5
Fair enough Brenda, I completely understand that for our newer members. Look forward to meeting you tomorrow!
July 3
Maybe after meeting some of the folks tomorrow for the celebration at Hardywood more ppl(me?) will be more willing to volunteer to drive. Thank you for setting this up, Amy!
July 3
Changed my RSVP; doesn't look promising that I'll be able to join up with you there after all. Thought I should relinquish my space so a waitlister has time to plan. My loss -- someone else's gain. Happy Tasting!
July 2
My husband and I will already be in Nelson County for the weekend and would love to join!

Great response to this event, should be a blast! We need at least three more drivers, though... please post if you're willing to drive, and note how many passengers you can take!
