When the weather is warm and dry enough, we meditate outdoors at Maymont Park near the Hampton Street entrance. Otherwise, we meet at Synergy Yoga Studio.

What kind of meditation will we be doing?
When we meet at the park, we usually sit in silence for 30 minutes, then have a short walking meditation. Indoors, sometimes we play guided meditations from a variety of traditions, lasting around 30 minutes, and sometimes we sit in silence.
After the meditation, we open up for discussion, which can be about the meditation we just had, something we've read, experiences during the week, our meditation practices, or anything that comes up. We do try to maintain a certain meditative awareness of ourselves and others during discussion. We usually conclude the discussion around noon, but it's not unusual that people have to leave before then - feel free to go if you want at any time.
What if I've never meditated before?
This is a great place to start. Most people in the group are fairly new to meditating, so you'll be in good company.
What should I bring?
When we meet inside: you might want to bring a zafu or a pillow to sit on. There are blankets at the yoga studio that we use as mats. You can also roll up the provided blankets to make a pillow for sitting.
When we meet outside: you bring a pillow and blanket to sit upon so you're more comfortable, or a folding outdoor chair. Also consider bringing sunscreen, insect repellent, a bottle of water.
Some of us like to do some mindful photography of the park after the regular meetup. Bring your own camera if you want to try that with others or on your own. (We love it when you share your photos here too.)
What type of people will I be meditating with?
Our group is very laid-back and open minded. We recognize that everyone is on their own individual path, so come as you are and you'll be welcomed.
What if I want to meditate for less time?
Come at whatever time you want, but please approach quietly and respect those around you. We'll usually end the meditation around 11:10.
Do I have to sit still for 30 minutes?
No. If you get uncomfortable, shift your position. You can choose to meditate however it works best for you as long as you respect those around you.
