Richmond Out Of The Broom Closet Pages

Out Of The Closet
Enjoy the fresh air and freedom outside the broom closet.

What is this group all about?
At this moment in time its about creating a social and working community for local Pagans. Check out our calendar and message board for events both planned or in the works. We will try to post as early as possible! And yes, we will be doing the outdoor concert series all over town through the spring/summer/fall! I will be creating Budget friendly events (Mostly cause I'm poor!)

Goddess Touched
If your title is "Goddess Touched" It means that I personally know you or have met you. If after 3 months you have not achieved this status I will send you an email with my telephone number. If we do not have a conversation on the phone I will take you off the rolls, assuming by this time we aren't a good fit for you at this time but feel free to rejoin at a later date.

Introduction, Profile & Pictures
We require our members to fill out a complete profile/intro and answer all questions. Just tell a bit about yourself and make it as fun or serious as you choose. Members who do not completely fill out a profile/intro may be temporarily removed from the group until they comply to this requirement.
A picture is a requirement so we can recognize you at Meetup events and, for safety reasons, it shows that you are who you say you are. Adding a picture also shows that you are serious about being an active member of the group. It MUST be a CURRENT picture. Since most of us don't have pics of ourselves floating around on our computer please feel free to ask any organizer at any Meetup to take a couple of shots and then email them to you. I don't have to use it as your group photo but it must be in your group profile. There are exceptions to every rule including this one. If for securities sake you can not post a picture please talk to me about it and I will wave the requirement.

This is an open group. I felt it would be hypocritical to make a group about Coming out of the Broom Closet private *grin* BUT Any new members must be allowed in by me and I'm a pretty good Empath *wink* but if any objectionable person slips by me please feel free to email me and I will look into it. If I find that I'm not getting a good vibe I will check criminal back grounds and sex offender lists. If I find I member has a violent record (Any abuse toward a child, sexual abuse, spousal abuse, elder abuse, animal abuse etc) I will cut them from the group. No discussion.

Who can join?
You must be 18 years old or older to join this group.

Any person who practices or is thinking about following a Pagan path. Most sects are welcome. BUT any cult practicing harm to another is not welcome in this group and will be taken off the members list. I strictly follow a "Do No Harm" policy.

We are a relatively diverse group of people with different views, paths, eating habits, etc. and welcome diversity on most every level. However, if a member tries to force in any way their views and beliefs on any other member, both at functions or via email contact, the offending member will nicely be asked to stop or risk being removed from the group. Should this member continue with the behavior they will be immediately removed from the group.

We ARE a Pagan group, with Pagan humour and tastes. If you are offended by anything said PLEASE say something to me at the time you hear it. It may be a misunderstanding or it may not be what you thought in the first place. Ive found over my time in the Pagan Community there is a very different kind of Humour.

If you are from a non-Pagan member please remember this IS a Pagan Group! I allow all faiths to be part of our community as long as they are respectful! BUT that also means WE as Pagans need to remember to also be respectful. We ALL carry baggage.....try to make it lighter not more of a burden.

We're an ACTIVE group
This group is by design a Pagan ACTIVITIES group and by that we mean a group founded for Pagans to get together outside of the "Internet realm" to meet in person for concerts, drinks, game nights and too many other socializing events to name here. That said we expect our members to get out to events and meet new people, not just sit behind the computer and email. On the same note we are NOT a dating service or pick up group. If that becomes the case you will be asked to leave.

Ritual Etiquette
Rituals are celebrated at my place and always on the date. I don't inconvenience the Gods just because their celebrations aren't on the weekend. Rituals are always Potluck but make sure you read the event page for specifics. I try to honour everyone beliefs and I'm an equal opportunity God and Goddess kinda gal but I stick to an eclectic rite usually. Once Quarters are called, Circle is called and Rite starts Cigarettes, drinks and cell phones go away. I turn off my comp and phone goes off the hook. After Cake and Ale (at dinner) cigarettes and drinks are appropriate IF you are old enough. I WILL card you. Lastly, NO drugs are allowed on my property unless your doctor prescribed it or you bought it at Walgreen.

Do to the fact Rituals are at my home I feel the need to make the open to "Goddess Touched" members only. In other words you may only attend a Ritual if I have met you BEFORE ritual and you have received the title "Goddess Touched".

Pagan Standard Time. Although a quaint idea, I find it a bit aggravating when people come in an thirty minutes late to a ritual. Once a circle is created energy is raised and Quarters are called I wont open a door for late comers. I will allow people in after rite. I get that life happens but please be on time for Rites.

No Solicitation
UNLESS it has been approved by me! That means....If you've joined this group to pick through the members to offer a service, cull information or sell a service. I will ask you to leave. We have been targeted in the past by folks that just want to sell something, get information about the Pagon community or convert us. I won't have it.

Community Service Events
We will be finding community service events. For people to know who we truly are we must show them in positive ways.

Is there a fee?
Meetup charges your organizer a monthly fee for use of the website and it's tools. A $1 fee per event attended will apply (unless there are extra expenses and you will be notified on the event page). You will be responsible for your own expenses incurred at events (dinner, drinks, pool, tickets etc.).

Please RSVP!
RSVP - means let us know if you are going to be there. Please - if you respond "yes" more than 3 times and do not make it to any events we will ask you to refrain from answering "yes" This helps us plan better! If you become inactive for three months please be advised that there is a very good chance you will be removed from the group in order to keep our active member numbers accurate.
If a member is sure that they are going to attend an event please use “Yes”. If a member uses “Yes” for an RSVP and does not show for that event they will be counted as a “No Show”. Knowing that things can change at the last minute in our lives, 3 Ritual “No Shows” is the limit allowed for Pagan Wheel of the Year. Once a member hits 4 “No Shows” they will be removed from this group.

Message Board
The Message Board is means for members to communicate about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, yard/garage sales and other meetup related topics. It's okay to post that you're looking for a new job but it is NOT to be used to advertise business opportunities or to SPAM the group in any way and such posts will be deleted without any notice. This board can quickly become cluttered so if you've begun a message board thread that has become dated please ask one of your organizers to delete it.

When Meetup members sign up and accept the Meetup Terms of Service, you are agreeing to the Release found in section 5.2 (reprinted below with emphasis). Generally, this Release says that you are attending events at your own risk, and release us in our capacity as Meetup Organizers from any claims. Anyone can sue anyone for anything, but Meetup included this passage in the TOS to give Meetup Orgs some coverage. However, for the sake of illustration, if let's say you punched someone in the face at a Meetup, this release would likely not hold up (since that action is outside the scope of our capacity as Organizer). So try not to do something like that or any other purposeful bodily harm to another member. *evil grin*

"5.2 Release. Because we do not supervise or control the Meetup Gatherings or interactions among between users and other persons or companies, and because we are not involved in any way with physical transportation to or from these Meetup Gatherings or with the actions of any individuals at these Meetup Gatherings, and because we do not control Paypal, credit card companies or other payment processing companies, and because we cannot guarantee the true identity, age, nationality of Platform users, and because we have very limited control, if any, over the quality, safety, morality, legality, truthfulness or accuracy of various aspects of the Platform you agree that you bear all risk and you agree to release us (and our officers, directors, shareholders, agents, employees, affiliates, subsidiaries, and third party partners) and Meetup Group Organizers from claims, demands, and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, suspected and unsuspected, disclosed and undisclosed, now and in the future, arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Platform, your Third Party Transactions, our resolution of any disputes among users, and/or your transportation to or from, attendance at, or the actions of you or other persons at, a Meetup Gathering."
In other words, we're all grown ups and responsible for our own actions.

If for any reason you disagree or can't abide by any of the above please reconsider joining and participating in the Richmond Pagans Out Of The Broom Closet Group.
