Are you a Richmond Working mom looking for evening and weekend play dates for your preschooler/kindergartener?   Monthly Mom’s Night Outs?  Annual Family Events? Do you have a child born between 2009 and 2011, and want to connect with other working moms in the Richmond area?  You’ve come to the right place.

When & where do you meet?

Play dates occur at Deep Run Park, Romp & Roll, Children's Museum, member's houses, Stony Point water play, Regency Mall, Crump Park, Maymont, Monkey Joe’s, Lewis Ginter, just to name a few. We typically meet once or twice on a weekend for play dates and once a month for a Mom’s Night Out.

Your group name specifies "Working Moms", but I do not work outside of the home. Should I still join this group?

Absolutely! If you are available in the evenings or on weekends, and are looking for play dates, developmental activities, and fellowship with other moms, you are welcome in our group.

What kind of participation commitment is expected of me if I join this group?

While the purpose of this group is to bring together moms and kids, it is understandable that things come up. Kids get sick, work gets crazy, or schedules just don't mesh. However, we do want to build close friendships and require at least 1 meet up event every month for new members. Once we all know each other, 1 meetup every 3 months is acceptable.  Another attendance requirement is that you RSVP to events you will attend, and that you attend the events you RSVP to. When you say you'll be there, the host or organizer is expecting you and your child. Please don't leave your fellow members hanging by no-showing. If you RSVP that you will attend and need to cancel, please call/text the member hosting the event to decline, and update your RSVP status on the Meetup group site right away. I DO A PERIODIC AUDIT AND REMOVE INACTIVE MEMBERS OR THOSE WHO CONSISTENTLY NO SHOW OR CANCEL AT THE LAST MINUTE WITHOUT EXPLANATION.  I REALLY DISLIKE REMOVING MEMBERS, BUT SOMETIMES IT’S NECESSARY TO DO SO.

It is more important to us to have a close knit group where moms and children can be safe, accepted, supported and make real friendships and bonds than have a large number of members. Members are invited to rejoin at any time if their ability or desire to participate changes or let me know if they would like to have their account on hiatus for whatever reason and I won't remove you.

How much does participation cost?

Cost of membership is $10 per year. This money covers the cost of maintaining the group's site on and for park shelters, when we have Family Picnics twice a year. (it does not go towards activities, snacks, or supplies). Additional costs associated with events and play dates will be specified in each event description, and help to defray hosting expenses.

What can I do to make this group better?
Participate in discussions on the message board. Ask questions. Provide other moms with the answers they're looking for. Recommend products you love. Post a review on products/services you were unhappy with to warn other moms. This group belongs to all of us - we'll get out of it what we put in.  We also have a private group on Facebook, where we share ideas.

I still see pending, when will I be in the group?

Before acceptance into the group, we ask for new members to come to 2 events, either a mom's night out or a play date. If you feel like the group is a right fit for you and can come to at least 1 event every month, then you are welcome into the group.

But what if I have a child that is older or younger than those in your group (i.e. not born in 2009-2011)?

Most of the kids in our group are born in 2009/2010/2011, so majority of activities are geared toward that age group.  Older and younger siblings often come to the play dates and they are welcome, but we restrict the age of the kids so that we can plan age appropriate activities and to help the kids form lasting friendships.  So we do ask that you have one child within that age range (or close to it)

Are Siblings/Dads welcome?

Siblings & Dads are welcome!  We understand that evenings & weekends are family time for working parents, so if you would like to come as a family, you're welcome to do so! Mostly, it's moms & kids at play dates, but we have a couple of dads that come to events as well.  Please let us know if dads will be coming to events by RSVP'ing "+1".

This group is small & private and we screen all potential applicants for the safety of our moms, moms to be and babes. APPLICATIONS WITHOUT A REAL PHOTO OF THE MEMBER WILL BE DECLINED. A photo is necessary to join.

Please respect the privacy of your fellow members and do not share members' personal contact information or addresses without permission. Please do not post photographs of other members' children on social media (Facebook, etc.) sites without asking the child's parent if doing so is okay.

Let's build lasting friendships among our kids & ourselves!
