Had a wonderful time as always!

Several people had not read or at least had not finished the book. This was a surprise.

It's not a requirement.
The book club is a monthly opportunity to get together as a group and see people we might not get a chance to see otherwise. The type of books we read may differ significantly from month to month, as does the amount of time each of us might have to read during that time period. There's a tradeoff between being able to come regularly and being able to finish the book every single time. I prefer to take the chance to see people and listen to or participate in conversation rather than stay home because, for whatever reason, I wasn't able to get through the book. This is the approach a lot of our members take, and nobody is ever told to stay home because they haven't "done the reading."

Very well stated, Carrie! Often times, the books we read serve as a discussion starter, but the discussion can take any angle and that makes our gatherings all that more meaningful.
Another wonderful evening with RBC. It was a great discussion... I enjoyed everyone's imput on the book... And it was nice to socialize with familiar faces and meet new ones.
Had a great time!
Fantastic night out discussing our book and socializing! Great to welcome new members!

I am so sorry for the last minute change, but I will not be attending today. Looking forward to the August gathering. Enjoy the discussion and atmosphere!
Thanks for letting us know you are not going to make it. See you next month!
Yes, Chelsea, I should make the next meeting.
Work has come up tonight so I'm canceling last minute. I'll definitely be coming for my first book club meeting in August!
Thanks for changing your RSVP. Look forward to meeting you in August.
I enjoyed American Rust. I especially liked the ending-nothing was left undone, just got an idea of the future of each character. I won't be at the Grapevine this month but will catch up later. . Have fun!
