September Book Discussion

We will be discussing Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier.

We are meeting in Midlothian this month at the Sedona Taphouse. Just ask for the book club when you get there. The Taphouse is in the shops at Westchester Commons,  just off the Midlothian exit of the 288.

Very sad to miss last night. I thought the book was different and had fun researching the back story. Also, love Sedona. It looks like I'm going to be working Wednesday nights again for awhile.

Had a great time with flowing conversation (thanks Karla!) and Sedona Taphouse should be a keeper!

This was my first Richmond book club, so I had no preconceptions. However, I sat with a group of 6 others and our conversation was lively, profound and really fun! I will definitely be back for the next one!

Great conversation! Really helped me appreciate the book more thoroughly. Sedona was a great venue for the meeting.

I am sorry to cancel again. The school year off to a very rocky start. I will do my best to join the next meeting in October.

Timeliness on the food was a plus. Had good discussion because our table was just the right size to hear everyone. I enjoyed you all and we got out at a good time- not too late.

I'm going to be a little late since I get off work at 6:30 and will be coming from the West End. I'm also bringing my son since he read the book too, and can't wait to talk about it!

I enjoyed the book and was looking forward to discussing it, but I have an awful virus that is attacking my upper respiratory system.

I would really like to go -- I read the book and thought it was really interesting -- but I have a cold that I've already given to everybody and work & I don't want to infect the book club too. Hope it's a great meetup!

I would like to suggest for the next read "Edgar Allen Poe, Complete Tales and Poems." It is a mere 842 pages long and some of the densest reading you'll ever go through. I'm almost halfway through after a good 3 weeks, so there's a lot of material for discussion. Once you've gone through it you will never have to go to high school ever.

      Happy Halloweenie o.O

Too late - I already did high school. You mean all I had to do to avoid it was read Poe? Now you tell me....

I'm afraid I've had to cancel for this month. I have a scheduling conflict, though I'm sad because I feel like this book necessitates a lot of debate.

    September 15

  • Christina

I would need six months minimum to get thru Edgar! Been to high school already.... Basically, no thank you for me

How about it, Chelsea, why not the "Grill?" Sounds like it'll be good venue.

    September 12

    • Chelsea

It may be a good venue for a future meetup but we are due to meet in Midlothian this month. We rotate each month; Downtown, Midlothian and the West End.

Oh I'm so sad to miss. I'm reading the book but have a sudden work trip come up. I will keep my fingers crossed for next month.

Does anyone recall the other two book choices for September. There was one that really caught my eye, but now I can't remember the title.

I had no idea this book was based on a true story. Thats very cool!

Well there's three votes, all we need now is to read the book which I have already downloaded.

CG's suggestion for The Grill sounds quite do-able...am always willing to try new places!

    August 22

  • Scott B.

Chelsea or Christina would have to call to make arrangements

    August 22

  • Scott B.

Good idea, CG, I vote yes for it. There would be room for everyone

I hope to make it to this one but wanted to suggest a place to meet. Anyone ever been to The Grill at Libbie and Patterson? Good food and outdoor seating. Might be an option what with the (hopefully) cooler weather.
