What: Fourth of July Fireworks, Live Concert Music & Fun @ The Dogwood Dell!

When: July 4, 2009 5:00 PM

The Dogwood Dell Fourth of July Celebration - Fireworks, music and more at Dogwood Dell's annual Independence Day Celebration.

Includes a Carillon bell concert, music by the Richmond Concert Band, cannons and fireworks.

This is a free event – rain or shine, children are welcome (but furry ones are not at this event) and seating will be TOUGH! This is a “very Richmond”, VERY popular event. . .
I'll try to get there early with blankets and cones to cordon off an area but #1 I can’t guarantee anything and I don't want to be rude to the other attendees. . . .
FINDING THE GROUP - Please try to find us as soon as you get there and put your things down to mark your space. :) I’ve got some foam Uncle Sam hats and some Lady liberty crowns – I’ll wear one or the other or my sunhat probably or who knows – maybe all three! :) and I will try to bring a sign of some sort. . .

If you’ve never been to a concert at The Dogwood Dell http://www.richmondgo... here are a few tips/ things you might find useful. . .

The DD is an amphitheatre style venue made of cobblestone and grass (see event picture). Give yourself ample time to park and walk. The park is situated in the heart of a residential area. Maymont http://www.maymont.or... is very close by and has things going on for the kids during the day as well . . .

Things I’ve seen people bring to this event:

• a blanket or a beach chair/camping chair to sit in
  
• snacks / small cooler (think picnic in a park kinda stuff)
  
• mosquito/bug repellant
  
• small citronella tea lights (also to repel the bugs)
  
• ear plugs
  
• flat bottomed shoes – the cobblestone is irregular in areas
  
• comfy clothes – jeans, khakis, t-shirts, shorts, button downs, etc.
  
• glow in the dark sticks, wands, etc.
