Easter Weekend (Salisbury/Stonehenge/Bath/New Forest)

This year's Easter Weekend takes on a more religious theme compared to last year's trip to Bournemouth!

We will head to Salisbury on Saturday and return on Easter Monday. (2nights/3days)

Salisbury is a beautiful cathedral town in Wiltshire and close to Stonehenge.

Here we will stay for 2 nights at a hostel with breakfast included.

The suggested cycling itinerary is as follows (TBC, all mileage approximate)

Saturday - We set off by train to the heart of the New Forest and cycle to our hostel in Salisbury (25miles) along the Cycle Route 24 network. After we check in, we can cycle the short distance to Stone Henge (20miles) and enjoy the rest of the day in Salisbury.

Sunday - We will once again re-join the Cycle Route 24 next and head towards the great city of Bath! The famous Roman spa town (45miles). With the extra hour, British Summer Time affords us, we may even have time (and the energy?) to cycle back to Salisbury.....or quite possibly take the train?

Bank Holiday Monday - After a spot of souvenir shopping, we cycle through the New Forest to take the train back to Waterloo, London. (35miles)

(Itinerary subject to change)

This Easter weekend promises to be even better than ever, with over 150miles of cycling, visiting some of the greatest cities in the UK and the Stonehenge! This is a trip not to be missed.

The whole package will cost £105 per person. Full payment is required by Bank Transfer. (Please call/text/email me for details)

The price of the trip only covers 2 nights accommodation with breakfast and your return train fare included.

All other costs are NOT included.

I will only be bringing 12 people with me, as we explore these fabulous cycling cities together. This will be a totally memorable experience!

Cycling Level? All we ask is that you have ridden high mileages in the past and can maintain speeds of 12-15mph. If you are new to the club, please come along to one of our rides around Richmond Park to be assessed.

This ride will go ahead regardless of weather conditions and payments made will not be refundable. (Although you may sell your spot to a qualifying RPCC member)

What a bloody good weekend! There have been times in the past when I thought my role was a chore, but this trip brought back a lot of joy for me. I enjoyed every corner, every missed turn and every loose surface. The scenery was amazing but better than that was the smiling faces that makes my job worthwhile. Thanks everyone for making this Easter the most memorable ever! :-)

Wasn't it fun, chasing down and passing all the guys? Keep up the fine leg action and you'll soon be the new queen of RPCC! :-)

Had a wonderful time - an eventful and memorable trip full of sunshine, dogs, cows, ponies, off-piste sections, lovely countryside and canals, all topped off with well-earned XXL pizzas, Guinness and sticky toffee pudding! My legs are slowly but surely making their way along the jelly-steel spectrum.

      Well said Patricia!

Thanks Craig, without doubt you were the most important member of the group. You helped mend practically every p word and offered your help without quarrel. :-)

      April 3, 2013

  • Joe

Wai, you have done it again. 3 fabulous off roading days!!!!
Bliss for me even surviving a broken chain w/o tools 12 miles from civilisation. I did get going (max 8mph) thanks to canal boat men with pliers & wire but Thanks Penny for rescuing me with chain tool & Craig for all his help.
A great bunch of people to go on holiday with. It was cold but we all endured stoically. The variety of routes and scenery made the trip well worth the difficulties.

I think you've been on more trips than anyone in the club and I think you'll agree that this one was the best yet! Even the train journeys were eventful! ;-)

    1 · February 26, 2013

The clocks goes forward during this Easter weekend, so we might give a century ride a bash. Excellent practice for those who were lucky enough to get on the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100!

    Hi Penny

The hostel has secure cycle storage, however locks are recommended. Road bikes and hybrids are both ideal as the routes are all on paved roads.
