I was soooo looking forward to coming tonight. I've read the books and everything. John's Ear Frost Bite balaclava was also a key drawcard. Alas I need to work on a last minute work project which in turn keeps me in book money. I hope I can make the next one as I need a Book Club fix. Enjoy.

Following on from my gaffe last week I can confirm that I will be attending tonight. I will be easy to spot as I will be exhibiting the latest product of my new knitting skills. Not socks, but a rather odd looking balaclava. Ideal for hiding my shame at recommending Telegraph Avenue. The accidental ommision of a mouth hole means that my speech may sound muffled. All you need to know is that I will be trying to articulate the words "I am sorry' whilst trying not to ingest too much wool, fluff and lint.
My balaclava has another unique design feature. In order to minimise audio interference I have included holes through which I poke my ears. The holes are too small and grossly distort my ears. Whilst the look is not very complimentary (unsettling even) I do look as though I am a keen and active listener.

Hi All - looking forward to meeting up tomorrow night to talk books and welcome to all our newbies! A reminder to please update your RSVP if you're no longer able to make it so we're not waiting around for people who won't be showing up. We're in the back section again. Until then, happy Sunday!

BA done and dusted.. Bit of a struggle to be honest.. Tried the sample of telegraph road & wasn't for me so will be one book only in Monday (for the first time!).
Re Xmas reads - I'm up for Dickens (maybe not the obvious one!) or a classic - perhaps everyone round the table's all time favourite childhood read? 8 years + over :)

I was really pleased with myself for my concerted effort to finish The Blind Assssin at the weekend. I gave myself a virtual pat on the back. On Monday night (7th Oct) I was less pleased with myself as I sat at the bar in the Kingston Hotel wondering where everybody was - only for it to dawn on me that I had got the wrong night.
So I joined the Knitting Club and made a lovely pair of socks. If you know anybody with a size 6 left foot and a size 9 foot that resembles a pig's trotter then I have the perfect idea for a Christmas present.
