We hope your summer has been going well! Before we talk about our August 27th event, a very brief recap of the year so far. The first half of 2014 was an eventful one for RUX: we hosted four RUX gatherings and participated in 2-3 other “RUX Related” events. While turnout was good, we are eager to increase engagement and participation. Our mission is to cultivate and promote UX in Richmond, and the best way to do that is to harness the curiosity about and passion for UX in our community. This is where you come in.
For our August meetup, we will be running a Design Studio. The design problem we will be working on is this: what should a volunteer organization charged with cultivating and promoting UX in Richmond look like? What activities should it sponsor and support? What must it do to fulfill that mission? As a way to teach about and participate in the Design Studio methodology, our August meetup will not only be an expression of RUX as we have known it, it will help define how it looks going forward.
Planning committee member Hope Norman will be facilitating the session, and we will sort out the location over the next several days. If you haven’t participated in a Design Studio workshop and/or you want a say in what Richmond UX is all about, clear your schedule for the evening of the 27th. We are excited to share the Design Studio method with you and to collaborate on the future of Richmond UX!
