I saw on the web that Northerly Island has Winter Trekking Days where they rent cross country skis and snow shoes. I have not done this there and would anticipate that if you don't get there early enough, they will run out of rental equipment. But I'm willing to give it a try.
Here's the scoop:
Saturday, Jan. 4th - weather prediction is 33 degrees, and there should still be enough snow left. They only need 3".
Hours are 10:00am-2:00pm - I will plan on getting there by 10:00 a.m. because I would like to avoid lines and the chance that they won't have enough rental equipment. I want to try the snow shoeing first. You could come whenever you can and we can keep in touch via cell phone. Also, I don't think it's a huge area, but not exactly sure.
Cost: $5.00 for 2 hours - CASH ONLY
PARKING: They have parking, I think it will be $3.00 but not exactly sure. The address is 1521 S. Linn White Drive, 60605.
Let me know if you will be coming. if you can't come Saturday, but may be interested in the future, let me know also.
Hope to see you Saturday!
