Father Gnaws Beast--a podcast listening party

and now for something a bit different. . .

dear friends--

we will meet at my Chicago house for something a bit different that i hope you will find entertaining.

earlier this year, my daughters, Jen and Kim, who once threatened to call DCFS when we didn't renew our cable, brought a case against me in the comedic court of Judge John Hodgman, whom you might know from his appearances on The Daily Show.  we recorded a podcast with His Honor, entitled Father Gnaws Beast, and i thought it might be fun to listen to it together.

Kim will be there too to keep things balanced.  we will order some pizza or Chinese according to Judge Hodgman's ruling, and i will have another special treat celebrated in the podcast--boiled beef tongue!

if there is time and interest afterwards, we can play some games.

hope to see you there,

Rick and Kim

our Chicago address is

5946 w Leland ave

1 FL

Chicago IL 60630

phone is [masked]

directions:

parking is not that difficult, even in winter--this is the northwest side, not the north side; this is a generally safe neighborhood full of cops and fire fighters

from downtown:

by car: take the Kennedy (I-90) to the Lawrence ave exit; turn left on Lawrence, and continue to Austin, turn left on Austin, and continue two blocks to Leland, turn left and continue to 5946; we are the 4th building from the corner on the left; if you don't find parking on the right side of the street near our house, go to the end of the block and use the turnaround to park on the left side of the street; we are on the first floor (bottom bell)

by CTA; take the blue line toward O'Hare, get off at the Jefferson Park stop; you can take the 91 bus practically to our door (get off at Austin & Leland), or if you walk, turn left out of the station and walk along Milwaukee to the first traffic light; cross the street at Higgins, then immediately turn left onto Long; walk one block to Lawrence, and turn right; at the corner of Lawrence X Central, cross both streets; continue west on Lawrence three blocks to Marmora; turn left on Marmora and go two blocks to Leland, turn right on Leland and continue to 5946; we are on the first floor (bottom bell)

by Metra:  take the Union Pacific Northwest line to the Jefferson Park stop; you can take the 91 bus practically to our door (get off at Austin & Leland), or if you walk, go southwest out of the station, cross the bridge over the Kennedy, and turn left; walk along Milwaukee to the first traffic light; turn right and cross at Gale st; continue on Gale st across Higgins, where it turns into Linder, to Lawrence, and turn right; at the corner of Lawrence X Central, cross both streets; continue west on Lawrence three blocks to Marmora; turn left on Marmora and go two blocks to Leland, turn right on Leland and continue to 5946; we are on the first floor (bottom bell)

Search www.cartoonbank.com for "rays liver" to find the New Yorker's cartoon of a pizza and liver joint. They might serve tongue pizza. Business is rather slow in the cartoon.

Unfortunately the Cartoonbank.com search engine makes the link to the cartoon 1431 characters long.
