We are a group of motorcycle enthusiasts that like to give back to the community in different ways and have decided to create this group! We are fun-loving, caring bikers that love to help and are open to suggestions. Cancer League of Colorado contacted us about leading a 5K Run they are sponsoring in August of 2011. This will be our first official scheduled meet-up. The Race4Research starts at 8:00am so we will meet at Wasington Park in Denver at 7:30am to stage the bikes as we will lead the race! Following the start, we have been invited to stay around, enjoy the expo and partake in a complementary Pancake Breakfast provided by the Bonefish Grill. At 10:00am, we will leave Wask Park on a "Back Roads Ride" through the mountains that involves lots of twistys and roads that you have never been on with beautiful scenery so bring your camera! At 11:00am, we will depart the Conoco at Kipling/C470. Please feel free to join us at any time you are able. We should be done around 3:30pm. All bikes and riders are welcome! More about the race: Cancer League of Colorado will present the 15th Annual Race for Research 5K run/walk on Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Washington Park. The Race for Research is a family fun run in memory of Michele Plachy-Rubin. Michele was a young wife, mother and kindergarten teacher in the Denver Public Schools when she was diagnosed with brain cancer in December of 1996. The Race for Research was conceived by Michele's friends to raise money to fund local cancer research. Tragically, Michele lost her fight with cancer in May of 1998 but The Race for Research continues as an opportunity for men, women and children to help fight cancer in Michele's memory. All proceeds from the Race4Research are donated to the Cancer League of Colorado, a 501c3 non profit organization, with no paid staff. Participants have ranged in age from one to eighty-one and have included doctors, nurses, teachers, families, runners and walkers of all abilities, as well as Michele's friends and family. Everyone is welcome! Organizers of this year's Race for Research expect up to 1,000 participants and 55 volunteers at this year's event. We will be offering state of the art, disposable chip timing and awards are given to the top walkers/runners in various age categories. A Traveling team trophy is also presented to the team with the highest number of participants. We also offer an award for both the top team and individual fundraisers.
