Raspberry Pi night with Louis

Just  a slight change to the time and place ...

Instead of BD's house, we will be meeting at the Darien Library at 6:30 pm. Meet me at the front desk - or we will leave a note for you so you can find us.,+CT+06820&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x89c2a064e6c8a573:0x6d13d8f221ed656d,1441+Post+Rd,+Darien,+CT+06820&gl=us&ei=ILEZUejtH6rJ0QGn-YCoCQ&ved=0CDAQ8gEwAA

Louis said you will need for the class:
RaspPi SD Card (with reader) Ethernet cable Micro USB to USB cable Laptop
Software wise - it would be good to at least download the image. Get the Raspian "wheezy" from this page (not the "soft-float" one) If you are Windows, download the Win32DiskImager.

Louis will take us through the setup of a Raspberry Pi. He'll show you how to burn the OS onto your SD Card. He'll then take you on a tour of the OS, teach you how to interface with an Arduino and show you how to use a popular python editor.

The presentation was very helpful as Louis managed to bring together a lot of information that otherwise would have required lots and lots of effort to find.

This was one of the best classes we've held so far. Louis took students on a tour of the Raspberry Pi, from the history of the project all the way up to installing the OS and making the board work.
With this class, Louis established himself as the Raspberry Pi STUD of Fairfield County, CT. And his cult is just starting to grow. At least one student was heard saying after the class in a frantic tone, "When is the next one? When is it?"
Don't worry .... Louis has agreed to provide a whole series of these classes, so stay tuned!
This is definitely something that people want. One of our newest members, Wael, drove up from New Jersey to attend the class. Welcome Wael!!!!!

Should we have a Raspberry Pi board for the meeting, and if so can you recommend one or two sources to purchase and what features if any should be on the board (like a real-time clock, etc). Thanks - B
