DIY Thermite

  • December 14, 2013 · 4:00 PM

Have you ever wanted to try welding - but didn't have enough money for a welder? In this class, we'll mix some aluminum powder and rust to generate enough heat to fuse two pieces of metal together. This will be your first lesson in exothermic welding! This useful - and very legal - mixture has a rich history. US Army Rangers used it to destroy lethal German 88 guns at Normandy Beach. The American Air Force used it inside incendiary bombs. And Walter White used it to "acquire" some methylamine for his budding Crystal Meth business. Location TBD!

William, since the snowstorm came, I didn't think anyone would want to do this. I can do this later on tonight, tomorrow or next weekend. let me know when you're available.

I've gotta go take my daughter sledding now. But could be available to do it later, I've got the mixture made ... all we have to do is light it.

I've spun out twice today running errands. The roads are only going to get worse. I'd be concerned about trying to drive tonight.
