Tuesday evening climbing - High Wire

During the summer, we meet weekly for climbing and friendly banter. We provide all the gear that you need for climbing, so come join in the fun!

Who: Any skill level, from beginner to advanced climbers. Everyone is welcome!

What: Climbing!!!! Our leaders will be leading sport routes, hanging top ropes, and providing belays for climbers.

Where: Tonight we're climbing at High Wire Crag in Clear Creek Canyon.

Meetup: Option 1: If you are meeting up with us for the first time, meet us at the first pull off parking area on the left near the intersection of Highway 93 and Highway 6 in Golden. (see map below)
Option 2: If you know where Tunnel 2 is, meet us at the pull off parking area on Highway 6 just before Tunnel 2, and from there we will hike up to the crag. We'll be there around 5:40 and will hike up to the crag shortly thereafter. *Meet us at Option 1 or 2 if you need to borrow gear.* LINK TO MAP
Option 3: Meet us at High Wire Crag (if you know where it is and don't need to borrow gear).

When: 5:00 pm at the first pull off, 5:40 at the pulloff near Tunnel 2, or feel free to hike up to High Wire Crag. We climb until dark.

Contact info for two of ROM's leaders:
Matt Leo - [masked]
Phil Orloff - [masked]

Please note that after 5:30 pm on Tuesday, we'll be driving up the canyon to the climbing crag, and there is sometimes limited cell service in the canyon. Call before 5:30. Thanks! :)

Cost: FREE!

Other info:

We have harnesses, helmets, and climbing shoes of all sizes (up to men's 11), free for your use. Let us know if you would like to borrow gear.

Anyone can climb on our ropes, but only leaders, assistants, and those who have been belay certified will be allowed to belay on our ropes. We only ask that participants fill out a short waiver form and medical form as required by our insurance provider. These forms will be available at the meeting point.

The hike up to High Wire Crag is short but steep (class 3/4). Bring appropriate footwear for a hike. We recommend bringing a headlamp if you have one, in case you end up hiking out after sunset.

If the sky looks threatening with rain, then the default is we will climb. Meet us at the parking lot or cliffs and we'll make the judgement call there. If we have your cell phone number we can text you in case of a cancellation.

Let us know if you have any questions! See you there!

Gary, I can't find anyone to pick you up but we can drop you back off at the light rail afterwards. Can you catch Bus 16 into Golden and then walk down Clear Creek to the intersection of 6 and 93? We'll be there at the pulloff on US 6 until 5:30. Thanks.

hello all - I am interested in coming to climb tomorrow. The only thing is that I work in Boulder til 5, so by the time I make it to Golden with all the traffic and everything it will might be after 5:40...? Is there anyone that will be late also that can show me where the crag is? Thanks!

Hey everyone- is anyone headed up to climb around 6pm? If so would you be willing to meet Maddy at the first pulloff around then? Maddy- if not, follow the directions posted above (in the map link, also described on the mountain project website, linked in the description above) to the parking area by Tunnel 2. You'll see a ton of cars parked on the side of the road about 6 miles up the canyon, and if you go just past them you'll come upon Tunnel 2 (it has a sign that says Tunnel 2). I'll email you my cell # so you can call me when you get there.
