OUR LAST TUESDAY NIGHT CLIMBING GATHERING OF THE SUMMER!
During the summer, we meet weekly for climbing and friendly banter. We provide all the gear that you need for climbing, so come join in the fun!
Who: Any skill level, from beginner to advanced climbers. Everyone is welcome!
What: Climbing!!!! Our leaders will be leading sport routes, hanging top ropes, and providing belays for climbers.
Where: Tonight we're climbing at the Catslab in Clear Creek Canyon. (MAP)
Meetup: Option 1: If you are meeting up with us for the first time, meet us at the first pull off parking area on the left near the intersection of Highway 93 and Highway 6 in Golden. (see map below)
Option 2: If you know where Tunnel 5 is, meet us at the pull off parking area on Highway 6 just after Tunnel 5, and from there we will hike up to the crag. We'll be there around 5:45 and will hike up to the crag shortly thereafter. As you're driving up the canyon, Tunnel 5 is the next tunnel on Hwy 6 after the intersection where Highway 119 splits off to Blackhawk. *Meet at Option 1 or 2 if you need to borrow gear*
Option 3: Meet us at Catslab (if you know where it is and don't need to borrow gear).
MAP TO CATSLAB
When: 5:00 pm at the first pull off, 5:45 at the pulloff just after Tunnel 5, or feel free to hike up to Catslab and ask around for ROM. We climb until dark. Afterwards, we usually head to Woody's in Golden for pizza. If you arrive at the Option 1 meetup location after 5:30 pm, we've already headed up the canyon. Feel free to come find us at the crag.
Contact info for two of ROM's leaders:
Matt Leo - [masked]
Phil Orloff - [masked]
Please note that after 5:30 pm on Tuesday, we'll be driving up the canyon to the climbing crag, and there is limited cell service in the canyon. Call before 5:30. Thanks! :)
We have harnesses, helmets, and climbing shoes of all sizes (up to men's 11), free for your use. Please let us know if you would like to borrow gear.
Anyone can climb on our ropes, but only leaders, assistants, and those who have been belay certified will be allowed to belay on our ropes. We only ask that participants fill out a short waiver form and medical form as required by our insurance provider. These forms will be available at the meeting point.
The hike to Catslab is short and moderate but on a dirt trail. Bring appropriate footwear for a hike. We recommend bringing a headlamp if you have one, in case you end up hiking out after sunset. (Which usually happens.)
If the sky looks threatening with rain, then the default is we will climb. Meet us at the parking lot or cliffs and we'll make the judgement call there. If we have your cell phone number we can text you in case of a cancellation. It's the nature of climbing- sometimes you have to be flexible. :)
Let us know if you have any questions! See you there!
