Riverside Outdoor Ministry's (ROM) Purpose is to reflect Christ in the outdoor recreation community. We desire to accomplish our purpose in three ways:
1. Connecting people to God,
2. Connection people to each other and
3. Teaching people how to be safe and competent in the outdoors.
We are a group of adventure-seeking, Jesus-loving, outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy sharing our passions with others. During the spring every year, we hold a free Rock School to teach "the ropes" to beginner and intermediate climbers. (Advanced climbers are always welcome though, of course!) During the summer, we meet weekly for top roping and fun in the foothills of Denver. We provide all the gear that you need for climbing, so come join in the fun!
There are two ministries that make up ROM: Mountaineering School of Riverside (MSR) and Riverside Sportsman. Riverside Outdoor Ministry is passionate about two things: adventure and glorifying God.
As a ministry existing in the heart of the Rocky Mountain region, we are surrounded by opportunities to create lasting memories and be challenged in ways that everyday life denies us. Our desire is to encourage people to take advantage of the resources that surround us and take pleasure in the magnificence of God's creation. Also, as we are constantly engaging in outdoor recreation and teaching essential skills, we believe it's necessary to demonstrate our passion for God and his son Jesus Christ. As we venture in the outdoors, we long to reflect Christ in all we do. As our theme verse declares, we believe that God's glorious creation gives clear demonstration of His power, perfection, and existence. Outdoor ventures provide one with significant times of reflection and building relationships with others in an environment with little distraction. We think that adventure is one of the best means to connect with God and others.
From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God has made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God. ~Paul the Apostle, in his letter to the Romans, chapter 1 verse 20
