Belle Isle to Grosse Isle bike ride

It looks like dry cool (not cold) for Saturday so I say let’s ride from the casino on Belle Isle to Grosse Isle and back. A departure time of 10am is expected, so be ready to roll then. The distance will be about 55 miles and pace 14 – 17 mph. We will eat lunch on Grosse Isle.

You are not required the DNR pass until 2015. You purchase the DNR pass with your carregistration renewal so for 2014 until your you have new tags with the DNR
designation, which is good for all state parks in MI. Bicycle access is free. http://www.belleislepark.org/

Lots of other Clinton River Rider weekly rides are starting to populate the calendar. You can see them all at lmb.org/crr .

For the permits, the process started Feb. 10, 2014 that if you have NOT had to renew your plates yet since then (and through Jan 2015), you do not need the permit, if you have got your plates since the start, then you need the permit. February plates I'm a little confused about since the process started Feb. 10th (but I think you need it), but if you renewed in March or April, you'll need the permit (right?) I don't know about non-Michigan plates.

I was on Belle Isle yesterday and the booth/trailer to get a permit was not open when I noticed it at 4:15PM. They've started putting everything up for the Grand Prix, I cut through over by the Casino (yesterday) and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get through (I was) but I'm not sure how much parking there was available with the construction going on (I wasn't looking specifically at the time and I don't recall).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
