Photograph the W.A. Young and Sons Machine Shop

  • Nov 17, 2013 · 12:00 PM

The W.A. Young & Sons Machine Shop & Foundry is a century-old, belt-driven machine shop and foundry featuring 25 fully operational machines.  This will be ideal for photographers who love macro and detail work and a great way to end our weekend in the Pittsburgh area.

The price of this meetup includes the cost of access to the site, which RRTP has arranged with the owners.

We will have 3 hours at this site and our group size will be limited to 8 people.

It will be necessary to sign a release to visit this site. If you are not attending the Carrie Furnace Meetup please download and sign the release.

The Machine Shop is located on Water Street in Rices Landing.  General directions: 1-79 to Ruff Creek Exit, then east on Route 221 to Dry Tavern; follow to Rices Landing. From east of Pittsburgh, 1-70 to Route 88 South to Dry Tavern, then east to Rices Landing.

Hi Julie, It is a small facility so we limited the group size. We may do a return trip sometime in the future.

Hi Denise. This sounds like a very interesting opportunity. What does the $75 fee cover? Thanks!

Ahh, makes a lot of sense. Again, I'm hoping to be able to swing it. Sounds like a great opportunity.

Should be a lot of fun. The place is not huge so the small group will be a real benefit. ;). Hope to see you there.
