Christmas in January at Longwood Gardens

Each year Longwood Gardens has a beautiful Christmas display! We will meet when the gardens open because tripods are only allowed from 9:00am to 12pm.

Click here for more Info: http://longwoodgardens.org/events-and-performances/events/longwood-christmas

As Don mentioned there are fees to get into Longwood. He listed $18, but January 4th is considered a PEAK weekend (due to holiday lights), so the fee is actually $25.

HOWEVER, I was able to negotiate a group rate of $16, as long as we have a group of 17. So we currently have enough people, but I need everyone registered to pay in advance, as I will be paying for the group 1 week before our visit.

So please go in and take care of the payment or change your reservation, as applicable.

If we show up with less than 17 people, that is not a problem, but we WILL pay $25 each.

Please download and print a copy of the tripod permit.

The website states that we need to buy timed tickets and that according to this link http://longwoodgardens.org/visit , there are no tickets available for today. I did not realize this and have not bought any tickets. Can we still show up and buy tickets at the visitor center?

Sorry for the delayed reply. I have no idea why they posted that... the place was empty for the first 1.5 hours we were there. There are usually spots available for walk-ins. Although this may not always be true MID DAY. But first thing in the morning, only people there are docents.

Where are we meeting? Inside or out? Thanks Katy

I would suggest inside. The doors open promptly at 9:00 am and Denise and I will be leaving NOVA at 6:00 am so we get there before 9:00am.

An hour ago I sent Longwood an email - an inquiry about tripods; as I read on their site that tripods aren't allowed in the gardens during the Christmas display. I inquired about use outside and assumed they were prohibited during the usual morning hours. It's nice to see they are, in fact, allowed.

@Evan, the permit speaks of tripods, monopods and easels....

To my knowledge you can only use until noon when inside. All day when outside.
