A weekend of food, music and wine (or beer) in Marlborough

The event is now confirmed for the weekend of 2-3 February, flying to Blenheim on the morning of Saturday 2 Feb via Sounds Air and flying back around 6pm on the Sunday. On the Saturday we are attending the Blenheim Blues, Brews and BBQs event, with Sunday free for other things. If any other members would really like to attend, please get in touch with me.

Hi all, I've done a comparison of travel options and it looks like taking the ferry and getting a rental car is the cheapest option. We can get that for under $200 each based on 5 or 6 people. I'll email more details to those who have confirmed they're coming, so if that's not you and you'd like to know more, please ask :-).

Hi everyone, so far we have 3 of us definitely keen for the "Blues, Brews and BBQs" event on 2 February in Blenheim. We have 2 not sure about the event, 1 going to another Meetup, 1 not sure if they can make it that weekend and 4 yet to reply. I'll give it till Friday to hear from the others and if not, that leaves 5 possibly 6 of us who can go but we might need to be a bit more flexible about what we do once we get there. We can always just leave it open, and/or some of us could go to the event while others do something else. After all, we have Saturday night and Sunday to hang out together as well.

I'll keep you posted! You keep your weekend free! :-)
    Caroline

Hi Christine, Lisa, Penny and Aimee,
I emailed everyone last weekend with a few ideas about a Road Trip. Could you respond please, regarding the following questions:

    1. Does the weekend of 2-3 Feb suit you?
    2. Does the "Blues, Brews & BBQs" event appeal, or would you rather not go to a specific event?
    3. How much would you be prepared to spend? (Think ferry $157 return, accommodation for 2 nights say $120, event ticket $30, plus contribute to petrol say $30, buy own food and drink say $100, and we can round that up to about $450 each).

Let me know if you can't find the email and need me to resend it.
    cheers
    Caroline

I'm free that weekend, however am working on the night of the 3rd of September so would need to be on the ferry that arrives in WGTN at 5.35pm.

The festival sounds like a good idea.

Also happy to take my car across (tis a wagon.)

I'm in! Abel Tasman kayaking with the dolphins...Was thinking of hiking/biking 4 days along Queen Charlotte Track from Sat 22 - Dec 26, I know its short notice but anyone wanna join? Can take ferry across (hopefully no strikes) and catch water taxi out and water taxi can carry the pack to each day's destination!

Hi Ashlin, your hiking/biking trip sounds like fun. Can i suggest that you create a new Meetup for a new event? This one is about a weekend in Marlborough / Nelson sometime after Xmas, which I've volunteered to organise. If you post your trip as a new event then it will keep it separate from this event and also get seen by a lot more people.

Hi everyone, I checked with Jaana how this group works and she said that members of the group had a brainstorm a while ago about ideas for trips, resulting in posting these events. They are without dates because each event is waiting for someone to pick it up as the organiser. So I'll get the ball rolling and volunteer to organise this trip to Picton - if that's ok with everyone! The first question is dates. I guess it's too close to Xmas to go beforehand, & no doubt some dates in summer will be booked out. I'll have a look online & post some suggested dates & costs, including whether to take a car or hire one (probably about the same price for 2 days rental vs a ferry ticket. Looking forward to meeting you all and going sewhere interesting!
