I am writing to introduce the operational aspects of our meetup group. We now have 76 members (wow!) and are working hard to plan upcoming events for this group. That being said, it's important to lay out a few details of the group:
- We are an ACTIVE meetup group. Participation in this group is not passive. We expect you to join in discussions, RSVP for meetups, and join the community. This requires a level of responsibility and accountability that is vital to creating a meaningful and inspiring adventure community.
- Meetup topics and activities are member driven. We create opportunities based on feedback and input we receive from members. If we see a trend or a number of people interested in a similar adventure, we do our best to provide an opportunity for you to explore that adventure goal. Your input is critical to creating meetups. Use the discussion board, email the organizers, and post your ideas/feedback.
- We are the Roam Community. We are responsible for helping each other create adventure goals, participate in new adventures, and support each other in our endeavors. We are accountable for our actions, words, and participation in this group. Positive, inspiring, and thoughtful participation is cultivated. Each of us has a responsibility to others within this group. It's how we'll create deeper, meaningful, and caring relationships that will allow us to take big leaps and calculated risks so we can grow and reflect about ourselves.
We are excited to be leading this group. We hope to meet each and every one of you by fall. We'll be holding new member information meetings coming in the fall and will continue with our presenter series in September. We will be teaming up with outdoor adventure groups and planning a few adventures of our own. Big Adventure Planning will happen again in September and we hope to start working with you all to create adventure goals.
