What a great meetup. Thanks to Ben for sharing his science project on the physics of pulleys and weight VS distance. Great share by Mark & Victoria on the Dalek redesign & the model car. Tim had a fantastic demo on a robotic arm with servo motion, and the pitfalls of building a balance bot. Thank you Austin for sharing his project: a Mega-huge balance bot called Seglarbot. Gary demonstrated the Pinging Parrot - a ping sensor mounted on a servo to be used for his Mysticon project, and then resused for the autonomous sumo bot. Our Sumobot challenge on April 5th was officially announced, the draft version rules circulated. The sumobots then can go on the road as a halftime show for the VWCC robotics competition on Tuesday April 8th.

Saaay, does anybody have a set of hooked weights we may borrow for the science fair? We can buy or make them if necessary, but I'd prefer to borrow some.

While there are no robotics involved, we hope to bring Ben's science project to show, if it's complete on time. It's a demonstration of the mechanical advantage of movable pulleys.

Pulleys and gears are definitely robotics related. We will look forward to Ben's science project and its perfectly OK if not complete yet.

pulleys, gears, wedges, screws are all very basic machine elements. the most complex robots are made of a bunch of basic machine elements' This was the first lessons i taught to my grandsons on the mechanical designs of robots.
