Robotics 201: (one weekend - 12 to adult)

Following on from Robotics 101, learn about arduino, programming and more electronics, sensors and soldering. This is a weekend intensive covering 5 classes in 2 days. Limited numbers in each class. If insufficient numbers this class may be cancelled/rescheduled. BYO Laptop!

Robotics 201:

  • Intro to Arduino using breadboards (no soldering)
  • Intro to Arduino Robotics using breadboards (no soldering)
  • More soldering (may include surface mount as well as through hole)
  • Logic gates, ics and more electronics

Introduction to Arduino (embedded systems). Learn to Program the Microcontroller in ‘C/C++’ programming language. More details about electronics circuit and prototyping mechanical systems. Learn the process to build your own robotics system from conceptualiza- tion to final prototype.

Robotics 201 is $175 for 2 days  of classes. Lunch provided. You have to pay a deposit of $40 and the balance at the first class. You also have to purchase the Robotics 101/201 kit for $60.

The instructor Saurabh Palan of was excellent, having been teaching robotics for 6+ years.

Thanks Andra! I did not realize that we need to bring a laptop... Me and my son have signed up at full fees and have ordered two kits as well.

My plan was to try it with my son in a supportive role. So is it possible to cancel one kit and also get the discount since we will be bringing only one computer for programming?

Last q - is Mac ok or should it be a windows o/s?

Thanks! It turns out that my 'almost 12' year old son wants to do it all by himself :) so we both will be attending using two kits as originally planned... and we will bring two laptops as well... :)

      That sounds familiar! :)

We've been asked this in Robotics 101 as well so....

If two people are sharing one kit but programming separately, we're offering a discount - $300 for 2 plus $60 for the kit. Normally, 2 people would be $175+$175=$350 plus kits.

If you just want someone to come along and keep you company, then there's no charge, except for lunch. If you learn some programming or electronics by absorption that's great. :)

But if you're sitting at the class table, hands on and asking questions, then you are taking the class - no matter how many robots there are!

Greg- I want to bring my son along to help me. Does that mean it's 2 class fees? Or is it just one, since my son will be working on my robot- and there is only one.

Do I need to take the first class before I can do 201?

Hi Alexandria, it's not necessary if you have some basic electronics or have done some circuit work. Most people signing up for the class haven't built their robot yet as they weren't at the last Robotics 101 course, so you can almost certainly get help with that part of the process and then get to the coding. :) Andra

I don't think you will have a problem as one nice thing about learning in a class is there will be plenty of others to help if you need it.

Also ordered my Robotics 201 kit to be picked up at the class at i-GATE.

Hello! I just ordered two 'Robotics 201' kits for the upcoming weekend class. The kits will be delivered to the Livermore location.
I will collect it before the class on the 27th. Looking forward to the class!!! :)
