Saturday Game Night (Advanced Gaming)

If you have been to at least one game night, feel free to join us this week! If you are new to board games, join us next week for open gaming. We will try and have people available to teach board games like Ticket to Ride and Carcassonne during open gaming.

That was a fun game of Eclipse. Maybe the 3rd time is the charm and we'll be able to finish a game; only 1 round away too.

FYI guys, I'm looking to start a regularly scheduled Advanced Sunday Game Night session for longer or more advanced games depending on interest (either once or twice per month). For this first meetup, I'll be hosting at my place (I'm on University Ave between Goodman and Culver) on Sunday Sept. 8th. My place is big enough for up to 15 people comfortably, so RSVP in my suggested meetup if interested. We're looking to start a Battlestar Galactica session that Sunday and whatever other games anyone wants to play.

Kyle - Thanks for being the "banker" for Eclipse!

haha I texted Becca and told her how I was the banker this time and she was like "well at least you won't confuse everyone like I did!"

Ok, so I just want to be clear on this... if we are new to the game nights with you guys, we have to wait until the the open gaming? I am not new to board games, just new to this group. I've played both Ticket to Ride *even have the iPhone app* and Carcassonne.

Ben - I'd be up for Ascension this week. I have Chronicles of the Godslayer on my phone so I'm somewhat familiar with it. Granted my phone takes care of all the cards and rules!

Such a good game. If you know how to play on your phone, you can play the real game.

That works for me! I really like playing it on my phone so it'll be good to understand the rules.

Does anyone want to try Eclipse again this week?

    August 22, 2013

Same here. I keep hearing good things about TI3, however it's one game I haven't gotten yet because of the time commitment needed from everyone playing.

FYI, James said he'd like to join us for Eclipse too.

I'd also like to say .. If you're coming please RSVP! I can't count how many times we've had 10 more people than have RSVPd. It helps me (us) determine how many, and what types of games to bring.

It isn't awkward playing board games in a Bill Grey's?

    August 22, 2013

    • Colleen C. M.

Can't speak about Bill Gray's but most places usually manage to give us sizable or at least decent sized moveable tables and it usually works out well with free chairs.

I wasn't intending to sound unfriendly BTW. Arkham Horror and longer big box games are usually reserved for special nights, we TRY to play shorter games just to make it so we can play more than one.

Hmmm, just wondering, Can someone tell me what games are played during Advanced Gaming nights?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Just depends on what games people are wanting to play that week. Catan, Ticket to Ride, Survive!, Dominion, Eclipse, Race for the Galaxy, Rex are all examples of games that might be played.
